In my 30+
years of being a musician, I have been extremely fortunate. I've
shared the stage with many great instrumentalists and vocalists and have
enjoyed the thrills that only playing good music can give you.
When the SuperBowl came to Atlanta, I was lucky enough to be selected
to play steel with the band that was going to be working during the half-time
show. This was going to be an all country shindig that featured Clint
Black, Travis Tritt, Tanya Tucker and the Judds. The show had 600
dancers, laser lights, 65,000 people in the stands and we (the band) sat
on the stage in the middle of it all. They projected the TV audience
to be about two billion viewers. Talk about being nervous!
Here's a picture of the band with Travis up front and Clint Black peeking
from the back. Later that night after the Dallas Cowboys won the
game, this band was invited to play for the victory party at the hotel
where the team was staying. There we had "sit-in" guests like Charley
Pride, Clint Black, Razzy Bailey, and Travis Tritt, too. It was a
great jam and the stars really did enjoy the pickin'!
